This is a replica of the first Tolar, the precursor to the Dollar
This Tolar is offered by Joachimsthal Relief Fund as a commemorative with 90 percent of its proceeds going to feed the poor of the world.
History: The current American Dollar had it's Origins in this European coin, called the Tolar. In Austria and in Spain, 400 years ago in the Kingdom of Bohemia (now the Czech Republic), a coin was minted, the THALER, (properly JoachimsTHALER Grosh). Later in Spain and in the many countries in Europe, the Spaniards, having their Seville Tolar, shipped the "Pillar Tolar" - via Hercules Pillars (Gibraltar) to their colonies in the New World. It became soon an accepted currency on the whole American continent. New York had it's Tolar from the Dutch colony in Gelderland.
Actually, the city of Jachymov in the Czech Republic, has the original of the first Tolar minted in 1521.
